The artist has handed over the entirety of his twenty-five thousand pound honor cash to the Music Venues Trust, which functions to save the Britain's small music venues.

The star was presented with the prize on 16 October as his third album People Watching was chosen as the outstanding release of the previous year.

Fender has decided to hand the money over to the Music Venues Trust, in recognition of the essential function grassroots venues had in his early career.

"I couldn't be pursuing this success if it hadn't been for all the performances I played around the North East, and further afield, when I was beginning," stated the artist. "These spaces are iconic, but they are in difficulty."

From early 2023 onward, at least 150 of these locations have shut down – roughly 16% of the entire UK sector.

In the last year, well-known musicians like the band Pulp, the group Coldplay, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all aided the Music Venues Trust in its attempts to support the industry, by adding a small levy to their ticket costs, which benefits independent venues.

Fender also joined in, raising over £100k on his recent tour to assist thirty-eight grassroots venues across the UK.

The donation supported venues that were confronting potential shutdown due to challenges arising from water damage, blazes and personal losses, as well as licensing issues, court cases and noise complaints.

Other venues were granted funding support in improving facilities and gear that positively impacted performers and concertgoers.

"The notion that money from performances in major spaces supports the smaller venues, where it kicks off for artists like me, is just logical," the star has said.

He is not the first artist to contribute his honor prize money to worthy causes.

Back when the band earned the trophy in the mid-90s for their record their work, lead singer the singer declared that the band would contribute their prize money to the organization War Child.

That year, artist Ms Dynamite divided her prize between multiple good causes, like the NSPCC and a Sickle Cell organization.

"I also donated a £1,000 to my local community centre, to their gymnastics class, because I trained in gymnastics when I was younger and they lacked new equipment," Ms Dynamite explained to outlets.

In recent years, they donated their funds to the community center that nurtured their act, alongside other grassroots music organisations.

Also 1994 winners they donated their winnings to a charity for MS after a friend was found to have the condition.

"Receiving the award was quite enough," said artist Heather Small. "The cash was the extra but we could do without the cherry, because we had the main prize. So our success impacted the lives of others."

Last week, the MVT revealed it had rescued several local spots in the South East, by transferring them to community ownership.

One venue in Southampton and The Croft in Bristol were bought under the community ownership program, which is supported by a national body and music fans who purchase "stakes" in the buildings.
